“My man,” Levelate said. It was almost a whisper. There as a note of something in his voice that Brate hadn’t heard before—reverence, maybe. Then he cleared his throat.

This was one of those rare moments when the two of them were face-to-face. In the Stack, rather than IRL, but still… it was rare indeed when their avatars were in the same virtual space together. Even with their filters up, obscuring their features, it was kind of a momentous occasion.

“I’ll be honest,” Levelate said, shaking his head. He waved at the files hovering just to his side. “I thought you were trying to pull something. I was about to cut you off. But this… this was worth the wait!”

“Glad you like it,” Brate said, forcing a smile. It was a lot easier to feign emotional cues via a Stack avatar, especially with the identity filters up. “I’m about to change my IRL location again. I think this might bring some heat.”

“Oh, hell yeah,” Levelate said. “Go. I’ll spot you for… how about six weeks?”

Brate considered. “That should be good. When can I expect the crypto for this stuff?”

“It’ll be in your account tonight,” Levelate grinned. “I already have someone lined up to buy this stuff. I’m going to ask them for a lot more than what we agreed to, though. And they’re going to pay it.”

Brate didn’t want any more details than that. He was already feeling very uneasy about all of this. The intel he was handing over wasn’t even the smallest tip of the iceberg, but it was still pretty devastating. Gerald Miller was going to have a rough time ahead.
