Wow. What a great philosophical Sunday drive you took us on. And if it wasn't Sunday, hopefully you were in the right/slow lane and didn't upset anyone late for work.
Thank you for the wondering around in paragraph form. I felt my mind settling into shotgun as I read. Appreciate this.
I feel you. I love to drive too. I have been driving since I was 16. Before that I traveled on my bicycle Went from Lawrence Indiana to someplace in Illinois because I wanted to see were the trains go. Boy, was my mom made when she had to come get me. I am chaffing at the bit these days because I am stuck in an RV. I love the scenery but living this way unable to afford a fishing license and writing, always writing which I love to do but its for free. Like you said I may have to face it. The first years are always for free. Not complaining just wishing there was some recompense for my hard work and hours of labor. Maybe one day.
I had a couple of incidents like this, growing up. I didn’t cross a state line—I lived in South Texas, so doing that on a bike would taken me about ten years.
Hang in there! Keep at it! Most of success in writing is persistence. Study, learn ways to market, ask people to check out your books every chance you get… it will happen for you!
;) speaking of which have you... LOL. On a serious note have you checked out my Substack I have some... interesting stories going on over there. Trying some out side my comfort zone kind of Genre's
Yo Kevin, your philosophy about complaining aligns with that of Epictetus who many years ago stated that true personal freedom exists only in your own choices independent of events that you can't control. We live in a time subject to the fraud that control means guaranteeing outcomes – however, wandering is a good example of control without the mythology of perfection.
This resonates with your readers, which probably means we read and love your books because we are a lot like you ... we just don't express it as well. Thanks for letting the world know what a lot of us are feeling, too.

Thank you for the kind words! And I know it was likely a typo… but I’m going to use “wondering around” from now on.
Oh that's extraordinary!! Yes, let's spread that word. Press On.

"Hobbies elude me. That's because all of my hobbies tend to become careers." - I felt that in my bones. We're definitely kindred spirits.
Does this count as a club?
Probably so! 🤣
