Thank you for your timely open-ness! I have been thinking about- focused on? - my focus lately (lol) and it is good to hear someone else's struggles, and also good to be reminded that yes, God gave us gifts to use, whatever they are.
Both aspects are true. More than just 'balance'. (I'm just emphasising this to myself here lol).
Kevin, thank you so much for sharing this. It frightens me how many people pursue the false gods of overwork, whether in writing and self-publishing or any other field, and do not realise until it’s too late. I’m so glad you’ve found a new balance and truer perspective on your life, and I wish you the very best.
Thank you Kevin for sharing this. Thank you for not being afraid to share this. It brought a tear to my eye. God will truly bless you for stepping out and sharing what He is teaching you. He will fight your battles for you. I believe God is asking all of us to be willing to stand up for what we believe now in this crazy world.

Thank you for sharing your his, it’s very brave of you. As someone who isn’t religious in the traditional orthodox sense it’s given me something to think about, particularly reframing the concept of idolatry and how it can apply to becoming obsessive about “work”. What you’re saying feels like loosing (and regaining) a sense of balance in your life - something that I know I have fallen short on a few times in my life.
I experience it again and again myself:
What disappears most when things become more ambitious is that absolutely indispensable feeling that the French call "laisser faire."

Spot on, Jon!
